P And O Cruises – Like Cruising Used To Be

P and O Cruises Arvia At Seas

If you’re looking for a cruise line that offers something quite different, almost harking back to an earlier cruising era, P and O Cruises should be at the top of your list.

With over 180 years of experience, P&O Cruises is the oldest cruise line in the world and the largest cruise company catering to the British market. Their ships are immediately recognizable thanks to the Union Jack on their funnels, and they offer a wide range of itineraries to destinations all over the world.

One of the things that set P&O Cruises apart from other cruise lines is their commitment to providing excellent service. From the moment you step on board, you’ll be greeted by friendly and attentive staff who are dedicated to making your cruise experience the best it can be.

Whether you need help with your luggage, want to book a shore excursion, or simply have a question about the ship, the staff on board will be happy to assist you. In addition, P&O Cruises offers a range of dining options, from casual buffets to elegant restaurants, so you can choose the dining experience that best suits your tastes and preferences.

P and O Cruises – Over 180 Years Old

P&O Cruises has been providing high-quality cruises for over 180 years, and they are one of the most trusted names in the cruise industry. I’ve sailed with them myself three times in the past. Twice on the Oriana, which is no longer with the fleet and once on the Arcadia.

I’ve also sailed with P & O on Commercial events. In my previous life as an IT Director. P & O used to host “The IT Directors Forum” and “The Marketing Directors Forum” on their cruise ship. Best business trips ever! A free jolly jaunt on a cruise ship around the UK Channel Islands whilst doing some business deals. What a hoot that was! Sadly they now hold the Forums in Hotels. How boring is that!

History

P and O Cruises has a long and fascinating history. The company was founded in 1837, and it has been providing cruises ever since. Over the years, P and O Cruises have grown and expanded, and today they have a fleet of seven ships that sail all over the world. The Company is now part of Carnival Cruise Corporation.

British Heritage

One of the things that sets P and O Cruises apart from other cruise lines is its British heritage. P&O Cruises is a quintessentially British company, and they take great pride in their heritage. From the decor on their ships to the food they serve, you’ll find plenty of British influences on a P&O Cruises vacation.

British Food

One of the highlights of a P&O Cruises vacation is the food. P&O Cruises is known for its excellent dining options, and they offer a wide range of British-inspired dishes. From traditional fish and chips to roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Lovely!

UK Departures

Now this may not be of interest to US cruisers, but for British and European guests, they offer departures from several UK ports. This makes it easy and convenient to book a cruise without having to worry about international travel. Whether you’re looking to explore the Mediterranean or sail around the British Isles, P&O Cruises has a range of itineraries to choose from.

Ships

P&O has a fleet of seven ships to choose from, each with its own unique features and amenities.

Azura, Arvia, Iona, Ventura and Britannia

The Azura, Arvia, Iona, Ventura and Britannia are “family-friendly” ships with activities, excursions, and entertainment geared at families.

Adult-only Cruising on the Aurora and Arcadia

Interestingly P & O have set aside two of their ships for adult-only cruising. So if you want to get away from your kids and other folk’s kids, this could be worth looking into.

The Arvia

P&O’s newest ship is the P & O Arvia, which was launched in 2020. This ship is the largest and greenest in the P&O fleet, and it has many exciting features.
