Let’s get right into the refreshing world of beverages aboard Royal Caribbean cruise ships. If you’re wondering which drinks you can enjoy without reaching for your wallet every time, here’s the breakdown of the complimentary drinks you can expect on your next cruise:

Complimentary Drinks on Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean provides a wide variety of beverages that are included in your cruise fare. So, even if you decide not to opt for one of the Royal Caribbean’s drink packages, you won’t be left high and dry.

Tap Water

Tap water is always free of charge on Royal Caribbean cruises. Whether you’re in the main dining room, the Windjammer buffet, or just lounging by the pool, you can always ask for iced water by the glass.

Personally, on my last few cruises with Royal Caribbean, I found that the tap water is just as good as the bottled water.

If you’re in your stateroom and feeling parched, the tap water there is perfectly safe to drink too. However, if bottled water is more your style, you might need to purchase it separately or bring it on board with you.

Flavored Water

Beyond tap water, Royal Caribbean ships also offer a couple of different flavored waters in the Windjammer buffet restaurant. It’s a nice twist to regular water, with a taste that might remind you more of fruit cordials.

Lemonade

When life gives Royal Caribbean lemons, they make some absolutely delicious lemonade! Available in the Windjammer Marketplace buffet, this lemonade strikes the perfect balance between tart and sweet. But if you’re craving something fizzy like Sprite, that might require an additional cost.

Hot Tea

From Earl Grey to chamomile, Royal Caribbean offers a selection of hot teas in the main dining rooms and Windjammer buffet. And if you’re cruising from the UK, they even provide a kettle in your room (and tea bags!). How thoughtful, right?

Iced Tea

For those who prefer their tea on the cooler side, Royal Caribbean has got you covered. Iced tea is available throughout the day in the Windjammer Marketplace buffet.

It’s a refreshing blend that’s not too sweet, making it the perfect drink to sip on while you’re lounging by the pool. And if you’re like me, who loves a slice of lemon with their iced tea, just ask! The staff is always happy to accommodate.

Fruit Juices and Cordials

Morning, noon, or night, there’s always time for juice on a Royal Caribbean ship. In the mornings, a range of fruit juices or cordials are available in the Windjammer buffet. From classic orange to tangy apple juice, there’s a flavor for every palate.

Just a heads up, while most juices are free of charge on Royal Caribbean cruises, especially during breakfast hours, some specialty juices might come at an additional cost. So, if you’re eyeing that exotic-looking passion fruit concoction, it’s always a good idea to check first.

Coffee

For all the coffee lovers out there, Royal Caribbean’s free brewed coffee is available in the main dining room, Windjammer buffet, and even through room service.

While it might not win any gourmet awards, it’s a solid brew that’ll give you the caffeine kick you need. But if you’re a coffee connoisseur, you might want to explore their specialty coffees, which come at an extra charge.

Hot Chocolate

Nothing beats a cup of hot chocolate for those chilly nights at sea. You can find packets of hot chocolate mix in the Windjammer buffet or order it through room service. Pro tip: Add a splash of milk to make it extra creamy!

Milk

Speaking of milk, you can find various options in the Windjammer buffet, from half and half to almond or soy milk. And if you’re staying in a suite, you can even request your preferred type of milk through room service, free of charge.

What Drinks Are Included If You Are Staying In a Suite?

Ah, the suite life! If you’ve ever wondered what it’s like to be treated like royalty on the high seas, then being a suite guest on a Royal Caribbean cruise ship is the way to go. And when it comes to beverages, suite guests have a few extra perks up their sleeve.

Drinks in the Suite Lounge

For those lucky enough to be staying in a Grand Suite or above, the Suite Lounge is your go-to spot for complimentary drinks. Now, I’m not just talking about the classic soda package or the usual tap water. Oh no, we’re talking about the good stuff!

During the day, especially on Oasis and Quantum Class ships, the Suite Lounge offers complimentary beers and wine from 11am to 11pm. But wait, there’s more! During the evening’s happy hour(s), a wider selection of alcoholic drinks becomes available.

Imagine sipping on a glass of wine or enjoying a cold beer, all while taking in the breathtaking views from the Suite Lounge. It’s the kind of experience that makes you feel like you’ve hit the cruise jackpot.

On other ship classes wine and cocktails are served during their happy hour, typically around 5-8pm each day. But remember, these free drinks are exclusive to the Suite Lounge. So, if you’re thinking of taking your drink for a stroll around the cruise ship, you might want to think again.

So, the next time you’re planning your cruise and considering whether the deluxe drink package is worth it, remember the perks that come with being a suite guest. It might just be the cherry on top of your cruising experience.

What Complimentary Drinks Are Included for Crown and Anchor Society Diamond Members And Above

To get to Diamond Plus you need 175 cruise points.

Number of Free Drinks for Pinnacle Members

For the crème de la crème, the Pinnacle members, you get a whopping 6 free drinks daily.

Pro Tip: If you’re planning your next cruise and wondering if the drink package price is a good deal, consider how many drinks you’d typically consume in a day.

With drinks available for free to higher-level members of Royal Caribbean’s Crown and Anchor Society, you might find that you don’t need to purchase an additional package. But always ensure to check the list of free drinks and different drink packages available to make an informed decision.

What Special Events Offer Free Drinks on Royal Caribbean?

Royal Caribbean cruises frequently feature some onboard special events where you can sip on some delightful beverages without reaching for your wallet.

Art Auctions: A Toast to Fine Art

Ever been to an art auction at sea? If not, you’re in for a treat. Not only do you get to admire and perhaps bid on some stunning artworks, but you also get a glass of bubbly to enhance the experience.

Now, it might not be the finest Champagne from the vineyards of France, but hey, it’s free and it’s bubbly!

Just a word of caution: that free glass might just make that abstract painting look a tad more appealing. That happened to my mate on a previous cruise. After a couple of free glasses of bubbly, he somehow ended up with a piece of art that now adorns his living room. He claims it was a “good deal”, but we all know the bubbly played its part, right?

Crown & Anchor Parties: Cheers to Loyalty

If you’re a member of the Royal Caribbean’s Crown & Anchor Society (and if you aren’t, you should consider it), there are some perks waiting for you, and you don’t need to be Diamond or above to get these.

If you are at least a gold member or above you will get an invite to the “Welcome Back” party. Here, complimentary wine and cocktails flow, making it a merry event.

For those who’ve climbed the ranks to Platinum and above, there’s the “Top Tier” event. Invitations are usually placed in your stateroom, so keep an eye out. It’s a great way to enjoy some free drinks and mingle with fellow cruisers

Birthday Parties: Free Drinks and Cake!

Celebrating a Birthday? You'll get free bubbly and cake! Yay!
Celebrating a Birthday? You’ll get free bubbly and cake! Yay!

If you are lucky enough to celebrate a Birthday onboard you’ll be invited to the cruise Birthday Party which is held on one day of the cruise itinerary. I had a “special” Birthday to celebrate on our Mediterranean Cruise last year and I really felt quite spoiled by the free bubbly and cake. Yum!

Royal Caribbean Beverage Packages Explained

We can’t really discuss what drinks are free on Royal Caribbean without delving into the world of Royal Caribbean’s drink packages.

Now, I’ve been on a few cruises in my time, and I’ve seen many a passenger pondering whether to get that drink package or not. With all the free drink opportunities, especially for the Diamond, Diamond Plus, and Pinnacle members, is it really worth it? Let’s break it down.

Firstly, when planning your cruise, the Royal Caribbean Drinks Package is one of the first things that might pop into your mind. For newcomers, the array of options can be a tad overwhelming. But fear not, I’ve got your back!

Royal Caribbean offers several drink packages to cater to your beverage needs:

Deluxe Beverage Package on sale on board Royal Caribbean
This is definitely the most expensive way to buy the Deluxe Beverage Package!

Deluxe Beverage Package – This is the big kahuna! The package includes all alcoholic beverages, from beers to cocktails, and even wine by the glass. But wait, there’s more! It also covers non-alcoholic beverages, including fountain sodas, premium coffee, teas, bottled water, and even milkshakes.

If you’re a wine connoisseur and prefer your wine by the bottle, this package gives you a discount on bottles below $100.

However, do note that this package doesn’t cover Starbucks onboard or mini bar items. And if one adult in the stateroom gets this package, all adults must get it too. But there are exceptions, which you can find out about in our Royal Caribbean Drinks Package Guide.

Refreshment Package, Classic Soda Package, Water Package, and Cafe Select Coffee Card – These packages are tailored to non-alcholic beverages and range in cost depending on your beverage preferences.

Now, the million-dollar question – is the Deluxe Beverage Package worth it?

Let’s do some math. Onboard prices for alcoholic drinks can add up. For instance, a Budweiser might set you back $7.49, while a cocktail is priced at $14.

If you’re like me and enjoy lounging by the pool with a beer in hand, followed by a cocktail before dinner, and maybe a glass of wine with your meal, the costs can accumulate.

On a day at sea, I might have 4 beers around the pool, a cocktail, and a glass of wine at dinner. That’s around $78, plus an 18% gratuity, bringing the total to $92.

If the drink package is priced similarly, it might not seem like a good deal. But if you find a package for, say, $72, you’re in savings territory!

Floating Bar at the beach in Labadee, Haiti
Yay! You Can Use Your Drink Package at Labadee’s Floating Bar

However, remember that on port days, unless you’re at Labadee or Cococay, you can’t use the Royal Caribbean drink package ashore. So, factor in your port days when calculating the package’s worth.

Another thing to consider is your drinking habits. With the package, there’s a temptation to drink more. I mean, why not try that fancy cocktail you’ve never had before? It’s all included! But always drink responsibly.

Lastly, for those who are Crown and Anchor Diamond members and above, don’t forget you get free drinks daily. As mentioned above Diamond members get 4 free drinks, Diamond Plus get 5, and Pinnacle members get 6. So, if you’re one of these elite members, factor in these freebies when deciding on the drink package.

Whether the Royal Caribbean drink package is worth it depends on your drinking habits, the number of days you’ll be at sea, and any additional perks you might have as a member.

So, grab a calculator, maybe a glass for free, and crunch those numbers! Oh and let’s not talk about how to cheat Royal Caribbean’s drink package 😉 😉

Can You Bring Your Own Drinks On Board Royal Caribbean Cruises?

When you board your Royal Caribbean cruise ship on that exciting embarkation day, each stateroom is allowed to bring up to two 750ml bottles of wine or Champagne.

Now, here’s the catch: You can enjoy these in the comfort of your stateroom without any extra charge. But, if you fancy sipping your own wine while enjoying the ocean view in a public area, be prepared for a corkage fee.

Thirsty for something non-alcoholic? You’re in luck! On boarding day, each cabin is allowed to carry onboard up to 12 cans, bottles, or cartons of non-alcoholic beverages.
