If you’re planning a Carnival cruise and you’re a vaper, I’m sure you’re wondering “Can I bring a vape on a Carnival Cruise?”. The short answer is Yes, you can bring a vape on a Carnival cruise.  But there are strict rules that you should know about when vaping on Carnival cruises.

Unfortunately, it’s not the easiest to find this information directly on Carnival Cruise Line’s own website. So I have carefully researched their vaping and smoking policies and guest ticket contract to establish exactly what the rules state.

We’ll provide you with all the essential information you need to know about Carnival Cruise’s policy about vapes on cruises.  This will include details of where vaping is allowed and what types of vapes you can bring onto a cruise ship.  This will ensure you have a hassle-free and enjoyable experience on your cruise vacation.

So while the short answer was yes you could vape, the longer answer basically revolves around the fact that you can’t vape in many places on the ship.  But let’s dig into the detail so you know what you can and cannot do when you bring a vape pen on a cruise.

If you’re a vaper, the good news is that Carnival Cruise Line does allow electronic cigarettes and vaping devices on board, but there are some restrictions you should be aware of.

According to Carnival’s smoking and e-cigarette policy, vaping is only allowed in designated onboard smoking areas on the ship. It is important to note that vaping is NOT allowed in staterooms, on balconies, or in any other non-designated areas. So if you want to vape on a cruise ship, you can’t just vape anywhere!

Carnival Cruise Line also has a policy regarding the use of e-cigarettes and vaping devices in the casino. While vaping is allowed in the casino, you will have to be seated and playing. You cannot Vape at the bar or in any part of the Casino when it is officially closed.

It’s important to note that Carnival Cruise Line’s vaping policies may be subject to change. It’s always a good idea to check with the cruise line before your trip to ensure that you are up-to-date on their policies regarding e-cigarettes and vaping devices.

If you like the occasional cigar, you may need to check policies even closer. Many cruise lines restrict cigar smoking to very defined areas. On Carnival Cruise ships Cigar smoking is only allowed outdoors – not in the Casino, for example.

Overall, Carnival Cruise Line is friendly to vapers, but it’s important to follow their policies to ensure a safe and enjoyable trip for everyone on board.

Can you bring weed vapes or CBD vape on a cruise ship with Carnival?

No. Although CBD and Marijuana/weed is legal in certain states, it is not legal at a Federal level and Carnival ships have to follow Federal laws. So don’t be tempted to bring CBD and Weed vape pens on board your next cruise. You are not allowed to bring them and the sniffer dogs at security will find them.

On our latest cruise, we saw this firsthand. A guy got pulled aside during check-in as one of the dogs had sniffed out his weed pen that he was trying to bring onto the ship. I did feel sorry for the guy because it seemed like he genuinely didn’t realize it would be a problem. Lucky for the guy, security just confiscated it and that was the end of the matter.

What Are The Designated Smoking Areas For Vaping on a Cruise With Carnival?

Carnival Cruise Line has designated smoking areas on their ships where you are allowed to vape. This is to ensure the comfort and safety of all guests.

On Carnival ships, smoking is only permitted in designated outdoor areas, which are clearly marked. Smoking is not allowed in any staterooms or on any stateroom balconies. Violators may be fined (it’s a very stiff $500 penalty) and may be asked to leave the ship.

It is important to note that smoking and vaping locations may vary depending on the ship. So just because you were able to smoke outside on Deck 3 Starboard on Carnival Glory, doesn’t mean you can do the same on Carnival Sunshine. Their Deck 3 smoking area is on the Port side!

These areas are clearly marked and violators can be fined heavily, so please do make sure you are aware of the correct areas to vape.

Carrying Vape Gear on Board Carnival Cruise Line

When going through security, you will need to pass through metal detectors and your carry-on luggage will be put through the X-ray machines (As will your checked luggage).

Plastic Disposable vapes are unlikely to set off the detectors, but if you have a larger device, it might be a good idea to remove it from your pocket and place it in your carry-on bag before going through security.

It is recommended that you keep your vape gear in your carry-on luggage rather than in your checked baggage. This way, if any questions arise, you can answer them.

Carnival’s policy states that no open flames are allowed on board, which means you cannot bring any lighters or matches. However, you can bring a rechargeable battery pack for your device.

Can You Use Your Vape in Your Carnival Stateroom and Balcony?

Yours truly - we don't smoke, so you'll find us on the opposite side of the ship ;-)
Yours truly – we don’t smoke, so you’ll find us on the opposite side of the ship 😉

Carnival has a very strict policy on this. You cannot smoke or vape on your cruise ship balcony or in your stateroom. If you are caught smoking or vaping in your stateroom or on your balcony you may be fined $500. For repeated offenses, you. and all your fellow stateroom guests, may be asked to disembark the ship at the next port of call.

Now I know, we’ve all seen other people do it. But it just needs one person to report you and you could face that hefty fine. So please don’t risk it.

To ensure that you can enjoy vaping on your Carnival cruise without any issues, it’s best to stick to designated smoking areas and outdoor decks. If you are ever in any doubt, check with the ship’s staff to verify where vaping is allowed on board.

Vaping and Casino Areas on Carnival Cruises

If you’re a slot machine enthusiast, you’ll be happy to know that Carnival Cruise allows smoking and vaping in the casino areas, including slot machines. However, it’s important to be considerate of other players and avoid blowing vapor in their faces or causing any disruptions. People can get very tetchy when they are losing money LOL

Carnival’s policy is that you can vape in the Casino as long as you are seated at a machine or table. For the health and safety of their staff, you cannot vape at the Bar.

Other Cruise Line Policies on Vaping

If you’re not cruising with Carnival, it’s important to check the vaping policies of your specific cruise line before packing your vape. Fortunately, it is fairly standard across the cruise industry. Generally, you can vape where smoking is allowed.

Here’s a quick summary of the vaping policies of some major cruise lines. Basically, all major cruise lines allow vaping, as long as you use your vape in the designated smoking areas:

  • Royal Caribbean Cruise Line: Just like Carnival, you can vape on a Royal Caribbean cruise with restrictions. Vaping is allowed in designated smoking areas on all Royal Caribbean ships. However, it is not permitted in staterooms or on balconies.
  • Norwegian Cruise Line Ships: Norwegian allows vaping in designated smoking areas only. Guests cannot smoke or vape in their staterooms or balconies. $250 fine.
  • Disney Cruise Line: Vaping is on Disney Cruise Line ships, but only in designated outdoor smoking areas. $250 fine.
  • MSC Cruises: Guests are permitted to vape in designated smoking areas only. A fine may be levied but they do not state the amount.
  • Princess Cruises: Princess allows vaping only in designated smoking areas. They also have “smoke-free” evenings in their Casinos on certain cruises. $250 fine.
  • Celebrity Cruises: Vaping is allowed in designated smoking areas only on all Celebrity ships.
  • Holland America Line: Holland America allows vaping in designated smoking areas only. $250 fine.

Remember cruise ship policies can change. Always check with your specific cruise line before you set sail.

Vaping Laws in Different Countries When In Port

When you’re on a Carnival cruise, you’ll likely be stopping in several different countries. Vaping laws in each country you visit can vary widely.

In addition to national laws, you should also be aware of any local rules and laws regarding vaping. For example, some cities and states in the United States have banned vaping in public places, while others have not.

It’s always a good idea to check with local authorities or do some research on any foreign ports of call before vaping in a new location.

No Vaping allowed on cruise ships on Embarkation or Debarkation Days on Any Cruise Line

On embarkation and debarkation day, smoking (including vaping) is not allowed inside the cruise terminal or on the ship until the ship has left port. This means that you’ll need to wait until you’re out at sea before you can start vaping on board.

Additional Considerations To Consider When You Pack a Vape pen on Carnival Cruises

If you’re planning to bring your vape on a Carnival cruise, there are a few additional considerations you should keep in mind to ensure a smooth and enjoyable trip.

First and foremost, it’s important to note that while vaping on a cruise ship is allowed on Carnival and most cruise lines’ ships, there are strict guidelines in place to ensure the safety and comfort of all guests.

As a general rule, vaping is permitted in designated smoking areas only, and not in non-smoking areas or on private sun decks or balconies. Be sure to look for visible signage indicating where smoking and vaping are allowed.

If you’re flying to your port of departure, be sure to pack your vape in your hand luggage to avoid any issues at the airport. Whilst you cannot use the vape on board the flight, the reason it has to be in your hand luggage is to avoid any potential accidental overheating when packed in luggage in the aircraft’s hold.

Lastly, don’t be “that” guy”. We’ve all seen them. They believe they somehow have a God-given right to do anything they want and will blow smoke and vapor anywhere they like and not care who is around them.  Cruises are for everyone, not just you. So be respectful, follow the guidelines then everyone can have fun.
